Right, I have no idea why I watched this movie. OK, I confess I know why. Because a friend said I might like it, as there were lot of girls. I confirm, there are girls, and some are hot (although not really hot during the movie, but I googled them). But that doesn’t make it a good movie. There are a lot of special effects, but most of the times there are too much special effects, and it is not easy to really see anything. There are portions of the movie that are boring and, it seems that those movie parts are the ones that the director think are cool. Meh!
If you want to see something good in this movie, watch the first five minutes. They are great. Really. Nice music, nice acting, nice recording. More than that, the movie is bad, but the sound track is interesting. Voted 3/10 at IMDB. 2 for the sound track, 1 for the girls.
I am reading the book The Pillars of the Earth (in Portuguese), almost at the end of the second volume, and started today to watch a miniseries that was created based on this book. It is (they say) the master piece of Ken Follet. If it is or not, I can’t say, as it is only the second book I am reading by Ken.
Back to the miniseries, this is always a problem to comment on a movie or miniseries after reading a book. Mainly because you imagine things, places, characters, and then you get places and characters with other aspects. But I started watching the series knowing that.
This episode shows that the director is cutting some scenes (like the supernatural sex scene between Ellen and Tom the Builder), and changing some bits of the story (Jonathan is found by Philip and he delivers him to the monastery in the forest, and only later he goes to Kingsbridge, taking Johnny Eightpence with him to take care of the baby).
But, hey, we can’t expects things to go exactly as in the book. In any case, I expect to watch the next episodes soon.
I confess that I was expected a little more. Easy story, action, blood, explosions, girl in danger, more blood and explosions, more action, bullets, betrayal, blood, action, blood, forgiveness, more blood and action, and a little of humor.
In the beginning there were some cool jokes, but during the movie they became more rare.
So, the typical Hollywood movie. Oh, Stallone is old. Ah, and Schwarzenegger is older. In the overall, rating 8 in 10.
And this is the second, third? from the series of Resident Evil. Well, I miss the number of previous movies, but I think I’ve seen them all. This is not much different from the previous ones. Zombies, guns, Mila Jovovich, action, cool music, Ali Larter, special effects, etc. Good think, action from the beginning to the end. Bad thing, some details are not clearly explained (what is the ‘chest butterfly’, what is the big monster: just a well nourished zombie?).
Best thing, we will have a continuation, yet again.
Back to animation movie. Bolt is from Disney, this time without the help of Pixar. But I did not miss Pixar in this work. The movie is great. Animation is cool. Characters are cute. And the story, unlike the last Up from Pixar, is both comic and dramatic, and I got a great time watching it.
Although the story is nothing really new there are a couple of details that make the movie interesting. For example (spoilers alert) the fact of the dog (Bolt) do not have any idea about a standard dog behavior, but Mittens, a cat, is able to teach him. And more, as far as he learns, he loves to be a dog. If you like animation movies, I recommend.
For those who already watched Machete, yes, I could resist and not post here one of the girls. For those who didn’t see the movie yet, I can name Jessica Alba, Michelle Rodriguez, Lindsay Lohan, Alicia Rachel Marek, Ara Celi, Electra Avellan and, of course, Mayra Leal that I mistook by Eva Mendes. If this isn’t enough to make you see the movie, then I should tell it is fun, lot of fun! Also, it is violent. Lots of violence and blood. But who cares?
I confess, this movie was on my watch list, after watching the first, because of the girls. The first had Jessica Alba, this one has Laura Vandervoort. And this is the only reason to take 92 minutes and watch it. 30% of the movie are underwater images of fauna and flora, 30% are girls (and, unfortunately, boys) in the beach, and 40% of the movie is action. The story? The same as the first Into the Blue. Nothing new. Also, not properly narrated, as the movie ends and there is no information about what happened to the bad… don’t tell me they were preparing a third movie… only if you add top-less to 20% of it :P
I’ve seen this movie before in the TV, but not till the end, and not taking the attention it deserves. New year was a great occasion to re-watch it. It is a great movie, not just because of the visual effects that are quite good, but also because of the story and actors. Although we can argue that the movie is about fantasy, there are two things that annoy me: The first is how nautilus got to Paris (river?) and, similar with Venice. How the heck any kind of submarine (being it like a blade or not) could enter a single Venice canal. Especially, when we saw the nautilus interiors, and therefore, there is a supposed width that is not present there.
But those are details. The movie is great. The story is good. 9 in 10.
Iron Man 2 or 2 Iron Men, that is the question. Good movie on digital effects, some good acting, and good music. Probably you are asking, music? Oh hell yes, they play Queen, Another one bites the dust. Given that I do not want to tell the story, I can summarize the movie as Iron Man, another Iron Man and, yes, yet another Iron Man. And a set of droids. And this already includes some spoilers. Fun, and action. And Scarllet Johansson making good action scenes. It is good to see some fight without the sound of metal. Oh, and of course, it is good to watch a girl, well, a beautiful girl, fighting. Voted 8 in 10. Probably too exaggerated. But some scenes (including Iron Man eating a doughnut in a doughnut) make my day.
